I'll be giving a talk at this year's
CFI Leadership Conference over volunteer management and how to run
a big event. I know it's short notice, but the event will be this coming weekend at the CFI headquarters in Amherst, NY from Friday to Sunday. There will be lots of excellent speakers there including Skepticon II speaker Robert M. Price.
The event is $100 to attend, but it's really a good deal. They provide lodging and food for all three days. Plus, you get to hang out with a whole bunch of awesome freethinkers (including yours truly).
If you look on the left side of this site you'll see a list of occasional contributors to this blog. Jonathan Hardin earned his undergrad and masters in analytical chemistry at MSU, which is where I met him. He's now at the University of Buffalo (SUNY) earning his PhD. He'll be at the conference on Saturday and I'm really eager to see him again. (You can see a list of his blogs
here)
Anyway, if you're in the area, let me know. There will certainly be parties.

oh man, that's weird, I live in Amherst! sorry, since I still don't have even a summer job, $100 is too much :/ but good luck!
Damn it. Finally something in New York, and it's $100.
@wtf_turmoill - Parties are free. ;) Are you in NY proper? That's seven hours from Buffalo. :P

@Zerowing21 - I'm in Oswego. Two hours and forty-five minutes from Buffalo.
@wtf_turmoill - Long way to drive for a party, but I'm sure you'd be welcome to come hang.

@Zerowing21 - Eh, I think I just need to accept the fact that, until I am eighteen, I will not see any of these things.
@wtf_turmoill - Probably wise. Hand in there. Do skepticism work at your high school. It's never too late to establish yourself in the movement. I recall that last year we had a couple high school students in attendance at the conference.
