  • Almost home...

Due to delayed flights I got into St. Louis last night a little later than expected, so I decided to stay over.  I will be back in Springfield a little later today where I intend to stop being awake until work tonight.  I'll be back blogging away tomorrow.  In the meantime, here are some shots from the conference.

Also, at the CFI conference last month I was on a panel discussing confrontational vs. diplomatic approach in dealing with religious people.  Chris Stedman was on that panel and we disagreed immensely.  Sadly, I never had the chance to go after him.  We plan to have a blogalog in the near future.

Anyway, Cambridge, the lady behind PandyFackleresque, was at the conference and we did a short video for her channel in which I throw down the gauntlet to Chris Stedman.

Raaaaaaaaawr I'm mean and evil even to other atheists!  Raaaaaaaaaaaaaawr!

My talk used a lot of cursing, which may make the SSA reticent to upload it.  If they do though, I'll post it here.

Yes, I agree that nothing should stop us from telling people who are wrong that they are wrong.  I have rarely shied away from telling people that they are wrong when that was an appropriate response (and, as a consequence, I have pretty much become the Lorenzo Valla of the English-language Sailor Moon online community).

Too many people out there want to conflate the promotion of a truth claim with the determination to force others to believe it.  Telling people that they are wrong does not entail your "shoving your view down their throats."

I'm looking forward to that discussion with Stedman.
