How many of you remember Boobquake? Well Jen McCreight, the founder of Boobquake, and I are both speaking at the Southern California Leadership Summit the third weekend in February, and we have a prop bet in the meantime: whoever can lose the most weight before then, starting Jan. 1. If I win, there could be a lot of alcohol in it for me.
But why stop with free booze? I'd like to also lose weight to benefit Skepticon. So if you support Skepticon (or a skinnier JT), you should pledge a certain amount of money per pound lost. I'll just take you at your word and that you'll head to the Skepticon web site (or directly to my ChipIn module) and donate. You should let me know how much you pledge since it may help to motivate me!
As soon as I find a scale I will begin giving updates. I'll update every Saturday, at which point those who pledged will know how much they need to donate for that week (or if you want to do one lump sum at the end, that's ok too).
Help me smash Jen! I'll drink one for you when I'm in sunny CA!
I'm also thinking that the loser (in the sense that they were defeated) should be saddled with a penalty. Any good ideas for a penalty? I think I might make her wear a shirt with my face on it.
Jen has thrown down the gauntlet in response!
I'm a little divided on this. On the one hand, Jen is rumored to consume enough alcohol to kill an Irishman in the prime of life and I certainly don't want to lose cash out of my first pay check watching her prove it. On the other hand, her charity of choice is the Secular Student Alliance, which will be providing me with that pay check. So I guess if you wanted to consider, briefly, pledging to her side, that'd be ok.
I know! Support us both!
My father has an oft-repeated saying: Failing to plan is planning to fail. So we're gonna need some strategy. Here's me scarfing down crazy amounts of pizza in order to gain some more pounds before Jan. 1 so I can lose them.
This logic is undeniably sound. Also, that's my game face in the second picture. Jen is going to rue the day she challenged me!
